Zoo Miami takes pride in being a proactive leader in various global wildlife and environmental conservation initiatives, participating in approximately 30 programs each year across five continents. The zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), which signifies that it has successfully completed a stringent application and inspection process, meeting or exceeding the AZA's standards for animal health and welfare, fundraising, staffing, and involvement in both local and global conservation efforts.
