Deluxe is the category, which at Disney means table service restaurants, a concierge desk that actually helps, and the strongest transport position on the whole property. Architecture is New England seaside, all pale blue clapboard, white trim, wicker and sea grass, built to look like a Cape Cod summer house that kept growing until it reached five storeys. You are on the northern shore of Crescent Lake, a few minutes on foot from the back gate of EPCOT.

Crescent Lake is the small stretch of water ringed by four hotels. Beach Club and Yacht Club share one long building line along the north side, Disney's BoardWalk curves round the west, and the Swan and Dolphin face them from the south. You can walk the entire loop in about 20 minutes, which puts four resorts worth of bars and restaurants within reach every evening without touching a bus.

Every Walt Disney World resort guest gets Early Theme Park Entry, 30 minutes inside a park before the published opening time, on every day of the stay. Deluxe guests get a second perk stacked on top of it. Extended Evening Hours run on selected nights at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT after those parks close to everyone else, and Beach Club guests are eligible. They are two separate products and UK agents muddle them constantly.

What you are paying for is position and the pool rather than square footage. Rooms are good rather than palatial, the lobby is calm rather than showy, and there is no monorail and no Disney Skyliner here whatever half the forums claim. If your children are EPCOT obsessives who will visit four times in a fortnight, that walking path pays you back every single day.

Water View is the category people argue over, because it faces Crescent Lake and on the right night you can watch fireworks light the sky over EPCOT from your own balcony. Standard View rooms look out over the car park, the rooflines or a stretch of landscaping and are the entry point into the resort, while Garden View adds greenery and a courtyard outlook for a modest step up. Most rooms here have a balcony or a patio, though a small number do not, so raise it at booking if it matters.

Deluxe rooms and suites sit above those, and Club Level occupies its own floor with a private lounge serving food and drink through the day plus a concierge team who will chase dining reservations on your behalf. For a family doing one enormous trip rather than an annual one, Club Level at Beach Club is among the few Disney concierge products that genuinely earns its keep, largely because breakfast and evening offerings quietly remove two meals a day from the budget.

Bed layouts vary by category and Disney publishes them on the booking page for your actual dates, so check them there rather than trusting a forum post from three years ago. Some rooms include a day bed and some do not, and that single detail decides whether a family of five fits into one room or needs two.

Decor follows the beach house idea without tipping into twee. Pale woods, blue and white palettes, coastal prints, and a fridge, coffee maker, safe and hairdryer as standard. Corridors are long. Beach Club is essentially one building bent into a shallow curve, so a room at the far end can be a five minute indoor walk from the lobby, which is a blessing in an August downpour and a nuisance when someone has left the sun cream behind.

Beach Club Villas is the Disney Vacation Club building next door and it is a separate booking on a separate page. Studios there have a kitchenette, and the one and two bedroom villas have a full kitchen plus a washer and dryer inside the villa. For UK families on a fortnight that laundry changes the entire packing calculation, so it is worth pricing both.

Your feet touch real sand underwater, and nothing else on Walt Disney World property does that. Stormalong Bay is a water park in all but name, roughly 3 acres and around 795,000 gallons split across a sand-bottomed main section, a current that carries you round, whirlpools, a snorkelling area and calmer leisure pools. Access is shared exclusively between Beach Club and Yacht Club guests.

Shipwreck is the centrepiece, a life-size beached hull sitting at the far end with a slide running down out of its mast, and it stands among the tallest hotel slides at Walt Disney World. Height restrictions are posted at the base. Ride it early in the morning or after five, because between noon and four the entire population of two deluxe resorts is in that water at once.

Lifeguards work posted hours, towels are provided, and entry is controlled by MagicBand or room key. Day visitors cannot swim here, which is exactly why the place stays usable in July when other Disney pools descend into chaos. There is a shallow zero entry section, a sand play area for toddlers and plenty of shade if you claim a lounger before eleven.

Quieter swimming exists for the days you want it. The Tidal Pool sits in a garden at the far end of the resort facing Crescent Lake, holding around 43,000 gallons, and it is where parents retreat when the noise gets too much. Yacht Club's Admiral Pool and the villas' Dunes Cove Pool do the same job on their own sides of the complex.

Ship Shape Health Club sits between the two resorts and is complimentary for guests of Beach Club, Yacht Club and Beach Club Villas. Outside the water, there are surrey bikes and boat hire on Crescent Lake, a white sand lakeside beach for sitting rather than swimming, campfires and films on the sand on selected evenings, and a jogging path that loops past the BoardWalk and back.

EPCOT is the immediate neighbour and it reshapes how you plan a day. Being able to walk back for a swim at two in the afternoon and return in time for the evening fireworks is the single biggest practical benefit of this address, and it is precisely why families with young children pay the premium.

Disney's BoardWalk is a ten minute stroll round the lake and works as the local high street after dark. Street performers, magicians and jugglers work the promenade, a bakery and a pizza window keep late hours, and Jellyrolls runs its duelling piano act for adults only. Opening times move about, so check the My Disney Experience app before you commit an evening to it.

Swan, Dolphin and the newer Swan Reserve sit on the far side of Crescent Lake. They are not Disney owned but they share the same transport network, and their restaurants take bookings from anyone. Todd English's bluezoo, Il Mulino and the rooftop bar at Swan Reserve give you a genuinely different evening out without leaving the neighbourhood.

Disney Springs is around 15 minutes by bus with no admission charge, and it is where the shopping and the serious restaurant choice sit. Go on your arrival evening while everyone is still running on UK time and nobody has the energy for a park.

Off property, the Highway 192 supermarkets and pharmacies in Kissimmee are roughly 8 miles south east and Universal Orlando about 12 miles north east. Flamingo Crossings on Disney's western edge has quick restaurants and shops within 15 minutes by car. Clearwater Beach on the Gulf coast is around 90 miles west, an easy morning's drive if you have hired a car and want a day away from queues.

Families who intend to live in EPCOT and Hollywood Studios extract more value from Beach Club than from any other Disney resort. Two parks on foot removes buses from most days, midday naps become possible again, and the walk home after the fireworks beats standing in a bus queue holding a sleeping four year old.

Children who rate a pool above almost everything else are the other obvious fit. Stormalong Bay is an attraction in its own right rather than a place to cool off, and plenty of British families build a full rest day around it in the middle of a fortnight. If yours would happily swim from ten until six, the premium over a moderate resort starts to make sense.

Couples and adult parties can do better on atmosphere. Beach Club is bright, family-facing and busy by design, and if you want the quieter, more grown-up version of exactly the same location with exactly the same pool access, Yacht Club next door is the smarter booking.

Magic Kingdom-focused trips are the wrong fit. Beach Club is a bus ride from the castle park with no boat and no monorail link, so a family whose children only really care about Magic Kingdom should be looking at Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary or Polynesian Village instead.

Larger parties should price the villas before committing. Beach Club Villas next door offers studios with a kitchenette and one and two bedroom villas with a full kitchen and an in-villa washer and dryer, all with the same Stormalong Bay access. For a party of five or six on a two week trip, that laundry alone is worth the comparison.
