What is the Water Park and Sports option?
It is a set number of extra visits added to a one park per day Disney ticket. The visits cover Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, the Oak Trail golf course, mini golf before 4pm and ESPN Wide World of Sports on event days.
Base admission is unchanged: you still visit one theme park per day. The option adds the extras without adding the ability to move between theme parks.
Water Park and Sports visits can be used on the same day as a theme park or on a separate day, and more than one visit can go to the same venue. A 4-day ticket could be two water park days and two rounds of mini golf, for example.
Who it suits
It suits families who want a water park day without paying for hopping they will not use, and longer trips where a water park is a natural break between theme park days. It is the cheapest route to a Disney water park if you are already buying multi day admission.
The test is simple: if the Water Park and Sports price for your length is less than the one park per day price plus a standalone water park ticket, and you will use at least one visit, the option is the better buy.
Who should consider Park Hopper Plus instead
If you also want to visit two theme parks in one day, Park Hopper Plus carries the same extra visits and adds hopping. Paying for this option and then wishing you could hop is the common regret, so decide the hopping question first and the water park question second.

How many visits do you get?
The number is set by the length of the ticket rather than by the number of venues, so a longer ticket carries more visits. Each visit is one entry to one venue. Unused visits expire with the ticket.
On the Disney Water Park and Sports option, the number of extra visits equals the number of ticket days: 2 on a 2-day ticket, 3 on a 3-day, 4 on a 4-day and 5 on a 5-day.
